On Target

When Sarah Trocolli graduated from Baylor University in 2018 with a degree in journalism, she did some of the usual things one would expect—like managing media relations for Texas State Technical College in Waco and serving as the marketing manager for Magnolia Real Estate, also in Waco.

The last thing she expected, however, was a future working at a gun club. But now, as the director of events and membership at Waco’s Republic Gun Club, she is having a blast. Read more here.

THE CASE FOR SHORTER TRAINING COURSES

Here’s a scenario that probably happens more than we realize: a prospective student researching training classes comes across wonderful courses being offered by amazing instructors. She’s taken several in the past and would like to take more. Then she sees they run for six to eight hours a day, for two, three or even five days. She knows they’re fantastic, empowering experiences but then she sees the cost. Between the time commitment and the price (and quite frankly, the stamina) required, she talks herself out of enrolling.

EVALINE SCHOOL KEEPS THE ONE-ROOM-SCHOOLHOUSE EXPERIENCE ALIVE

Evaline School began as a one room schoolhouse by another name in 1883 and was destroyed by a falling tree within a few years. A second school was called “Brown’s School” because the lumber was donated by Brown’s Mill. Then the name was changed to Evaline after the postmaster’s wife. A fire then destroyed that building in 1925 and that’s when the current school was built. Read more here.

Look to Community Colleges for Your Next Event

When looking for conference or event space, creative thinking is king. Where are unusual facilities that many people don’t think about? Where are there many rooms, a variety of size and space, computer labs, training facilities? What food options are there?

If you’ve never thought about a community college, it’s time to give them a look. Many large cities have several community colleges to choose from, but don’t overlook the more rural areas that may have an institution, or a branch of one, close by.

Tucker Carlson Defends the Second

The week before heading to Dallas, Texas, Tucker Carlson was looking forward to the honor of speaking at the Women’s Leadership Forum and Luncheon at the NRA Annual Meeting.

“I’m a fully convinced defender of the Second Amendment. I spend my life talking to people and debating people who disagree with me. They seem to think there’s an empty void between the First and the Third Amendments. It’s nice to be around people who understand the importance of the Second Amendment. The Bill of Rights is even more applicable today than when it was written. It’s always a rare pleasure to be around people I agree with,” he says with a sigh of relief.
